Palace of the Shirvanshahs

The palace, which was built in the 15th century during the reign of İbrahim Halilullah, the king of the Shirvanshahs dynasty, has fifty-two rooms. A mausoleum and a palace bath were reserved for the shah’s family within the walls. The upper floor was used for the dynastic family, and the lower floor was used for guests coming to state affairs. Another remarkable feature is the underground water tank with thirty-four steps. This warehouse used to meet the water needs of the palace on its own. It was built for children to receive education. In the palace, which has the Keykubab Masjid and Shah Masjid sections, the Murad Darvaza section, known as the “Great Gate”, is from the Ottoman period.

Baku Boulevard

Baku Boulevard, which was built parallel to the Caspian Coast strip of Baku, started to be protected under the name of Seaside National Park. The boulevard, which has expanded to the west and east with many restorations after its construction, has the Baku Crystal Hall, the new building of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the business center, the Ferris wheel, the cinema, the yacht club, the musical fountain and various monuments and sculptures.

Yanar Dag – Yanar Mountain

Bibi-Heybat Mosque, Baku

Bibi-Heybet Mosque, the historical mosque in Baku, Azerbaijan, is one of the most important reflections of Islamic architecture. The mosque, which includes the tomb of Ukeyma Hanum, has today become a spiritual center for Muslims in the region.

Famous French writer Alexandre Dumas, who visited the mosque in the 1840s, wrote in his book “The World”, “The mosque is a place of worship for women experiencing infertility. They come here on foot, pray and gain the ability to become pregnant within a year.”

The expression “Fatima’s mosque”, which Dumas used for the mosque after his visit, was also adopted by the local people and started to be said in this way ever since.

The name of the mosque is also found in the works of local and European explorers and travelers such as Abbasgulu Bakikhanov, Ilya Berezin, Johannes Albrecht Bernhard Dorn, Nicholas Khanykov and Yevgeni Pakhomov after Dumas’ book.
